Lovely box of Guttalin shoe polish, 45th anniversary edition, manufactured in Italy at the end of the '30s. Produced by the historical Pessi workshops of Padua, which in 1932 had took over the German Guttalin, thus appropriating the precious receipt of its excellent cream for leather shoes and accessories, the container, with screw lid, was realized in a peculiar plastic discovery, result of the autarkic period: the albanite, mixture similar to the ebonite, a plant-based resin, named this way in honor of Albano Pessi, its discoverer, and manager, together with his brother Ivo, of the Venetian industrial group until the passing of the father and founder Edoardo, occurred in 1907. On the cover, the box shows engraved the product's trade name, the cream's old German patent number (Ā«W.Z. 46917Ā», where Ā«W.Z.Ā» stands for Warenzeichen, that is just to say āpatentā) and a little laurel wreath with the commemorative inscription Ā«45 anniĀ» (ā45 Yearsā); the container's bottom, instead, displays a small rhombus with the company's first letters (Ā«EPPĀ», in other words āEdoardo Pessi Padovaā) and the autarkic wording Ā«FABBRICAZIONE ITALIANAĀ» (āItalian Manufactureā). In very good conditions, manufactured in a singular material ā no more utilized after 1945 -, this little container proposes itself as a rare collection piece for all lovers of vintage footwear world!
