[Pietro Gerardo] Jansen, Il cielo di fuoco – «Eroi e avventure della nostra guerra» 20 – Rizzoli 1943

Rare educational booklet of Rizzoli propaganda series «Eroi e avventure della nostra guerra» («Heroes and adventures of our war»), collection of four short biographies of WWII Italian Air Force heroes. Enriched with fantastic aeronautical illustrations by Latini, the pamphlet retraces, in a decidedly patriotic key, the human parabolas of Pietro Bonannini (1919-1961), Sardinian gunner boarded on reconnaissance seaplanes, the only Regia Aeronautica WWII ace not to be a fighter pilot (story Il cacciatore del re, by Federico Frezzan), of Victor Hugo Girolami (1910-1940), Roman officer in service on bombers, already volunteer in East Africa and during the Spanish Civil War, Gold Medal to the memory (Il cielo di fuoco, by Jansen), of Carlo Romagnoli (1905-1941), much-decorated Neapolitan fighter pilot, killed in action in the skies of Malta (Carlo Romagnoli, by Carlo Laderchi), and, finally, of Giovanni Guiducci (1916-1942), Aretine ass of Italian fighters, himself already volunteer in Spain, died in a crash over Sicily (Giovanni Guiducci, by Oreste Gregorio). Ending with the essays L'equipaggio, by Frezzan, and Condottieri italiani: Testa di ferro, by Pietro Nanni, the booklet, a true gem for the militaria passionate, except for a partially worn spine and a back cover marked with some spots and foxing – see photos -, is sold in very good conditions.
