US Army M1 Carbine or M1 Garand Rifle Magazine Pocket - Pittsburgh Garter Co. (1944) - WWII
Interesting 2nd-generation M1 Carbine magazine pocket, dating back to the Second World War. Made of robust olive drab webbing, with handy āLift-The-Dotā button closure, the pouch, introduced in 1943, allowed to accommodate two 15-round, double-stack box magazines, in .30 Carbine caliber, for M1 Carbine, or alternately, main change in respect to the first type, two 8-round clips, in .30-06 Springfield caliber, for M1 Garand rifle. Fitted, at the bottom, with two loops, for the attachment of some other bag or case, the magazine carrier shows, on the back, two more canvas loops, for the fastening of the accessory at the typical US soldier's service waist-belt, in addition to a metal buckle, added homemade - maybe already in war time -, mounted on a riveted insert in light-colored leather. On the flap's outside, the capital letters Ā«U.S.Ā» are still clearly legible, while, on the inside, we can read producer and production year: Ā«Pittsburgh Garter Co. 1944Ā». Except for some moisture traces on the flap, and for some, slight tarnish signs on button and loops, the piece is sold in very good preservation conditions: a 100% original find of absolute fascination for the collector!
