Manufactured, according to tradition, in stoneware, the mug, of cylindrical shape, has a capacity of 1 liter, and is provided with a wide handle: the «WM» inscription on the grip's left reminds us that the piece is a product of the prestigious Merkelbach kilns of Höhr-Grenzhausen, in Rhineland-Palatinate. Bierkrüge as this one are still nowadays customized by producers, and supplied to pubs and festivals to serve their own beverages, for advertising purposes. Not showing any breaks, the article for sale bears, printed in red inside an hexagon, the trademark of the renowned Stuttgarter Hofbräu brewery of Stuttgart, born in 1872 from the fusion of the former Franciscan brewery of St. Luzen with the Zum Englischen Garten (“At the English Garden”) one of Stuttgart, later become official beer provider of the Royal House of Württemberg, and still running today under the ownership of Radeberger Group; inside the upper hexagon, we read instead the historical «So ein Bier…» company slogan, that is roughly to say, “What a beer!”.
